@heidilifeldman The first step in fighting fear this week is not trying to face it alone. Connect with others working to elect Harris and other Democrats. Mastodon makes this easy, especially if you follow @KamalaHarrisWin. The second step is choosing one thing a day you will do to help elect those Democrats. Here are links to the two fundraisers I run. A small donation to either is an act of courage and resilience in the face of fear: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mastodon-for-harris and https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mastodonbluewave. 2/
This week especially, if and when the U.S. election and political situation scares you, take a minute and remember the millions of ordinary Americans who, through our history, have fought for a more democratic, more just United States. 7/
One way fear is the enemy of democracy is that it impedes connection and cooperation with one’s fellow citizens. So every act of connection and cooperation with others committed to U.S. democracy is an antidote. 5/
Smaller steps help handle fear too. Put on your “I voted” sticker or Harris sticker and go for a walk in your community. Just signaling to others your effort and your pride helps them stay resolute. 4/
For many of us, this final full week before Election Day brings with it fear. Personal fear as well as fear for our country. Fear you feel in your body, in your stomach and your muscles. The sort of fear that can paralyze. We can’t just snap our fingers and not feel it. We can resist it. 1/
The expenses that the Harris campaign is still seeking funds for at this point in the election: 1) text and phone banks and door can be added and expanded depending on cash available 2) legal teams can be expanded to provide more voter protection and ballot access litigation. In this tight electoral the more of all of this, the better. Please contribute at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mastodon-for-harris.
I hate giving up access to its WH and Congressional reporting but unless and until the editorial board is permitted to do its job and endorse a Presidential candidate in this Presidential election, I cannot, in good conscience, pay for the Washington Post. I’ll be sending the money to ProPublica.
Mastodon for Harris late afternoon update, 10/23. Kamala Harris addresses the nation tonight on a televised town hall belting held in lieu of another debate. Donald was too scared to show up. Let’s show our enthusiasm for our candidate. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mastodon-for-harris

I remember publicly identifying Trump as a fascist when he ran for office in 2016. I kept saying that there was nothing hyperbolic in that identification, and people on the left as well as on the right acted like I was a nutty alarmist.
Beyond rallies, though, the Harris campaign is spending money to reach voters through every last avenue: added texting, phone banking, and door knocking, including by volunteers fluent in Spanish. The New York Times reports that Harris has hired organizers specifically for the final weeks of the campaign. Salaries and office overhead must be paid. 4/
