Call me weird, old, a Luddite, but I really don't want my computer "vibing". I want it to compute. I want it to save my byte-encoded words and pictures to exactly where I tell it to and not allow access unless I've explicitly told it to. "Vibing" - geesh, it sounds like a virus.
@steter That's all I'd like, please. A little less rain here, a little more rain there. Not too hot and not too cold. I guess that makes me a moderate?
On our recent trip, every day was #ThickTrunkTuesday. I could post the hundreds of pictures I took of them, but I think they each deserve to admired individually. This beauty (probably a large leaf maple) was along the Madison Falls Nature Trail in Olympic National Park, near Elwha, Washington, US.
I had hoped to find some good hard cider on our trip to Washington, a state known for its apples. "Oh, yes! We have 4 kinds!" Except they were all mixed with other fruits and too sweet. But at the end of the trip, Copper Creek Inn (where we stayed 2 nights) came through. Mill Haus Dry Newtown Pippin was easily one of the best ciders I have had: complex apple flavors, very dry but not bitter. Mill Haus is apparently a small cidery "just down the road".
Not everything was perfect. We weren't able to see the reflection of Mount Rainier in the Reflection Lakes, and we had to cross this terrifying bridge to get to Carter Falls. 😂
Our last day at Mt. Rainier National Park so we took a more challenging (for us!) hike up to Rampart Ridge. 4.6 miles with an elevation gain of 1339 feet. They have some very big trees in this part of the world. Our favorite things to come across was two trees of different species growing as one. Today we return east. Our kitties at least will be glad!
Yesterday at Olympic National Park took us to the Hoh Rain Forest, featuring massive trees and lots of mosses and ferns in old growth forest, and then Ruby Beach with its sea stacks and ferocious Pacific Ocean waves.
Edit to add hashtags. Got excited and hit post because my breakfast was just delivered 😂
Yesterday's amusing moment: After hours deep in the park with no cell signal, my phone suddenly pinged that I had a text as we reached Hurricane Ridge. "Welcome to Canada!" my cell provider was telling me. What? ! ? It apparently just caught a whisper of a signal from across the Salish Sea LOL
Retired (mostly) accessibility pro. I love your pet pictures. You may know me from the other place as sarahebourne. I try not to post about politics, but it can be hard when it affects people's lives and well-being. I like cats, dogs, birds, live music, and the interesting things people do and make.She/her.
