@RuiSeabra @ammdias Não é bem a mesma coisa. Os DARPA grants não subsidiam custos primários: fornecem dinheiro para investigação e desenvolvimento, projetos de risco sem capitalização óbvia, em que, por isso mesmo, os privados nunca tocariam.

Os substídios "à socialista" são um tanto ou quanto diferentes: subsidiam custos primários na economia segundo a ideia de que esta como um todo fica mais saudável por isso. A PAC é um exemplo prático. Energia subsidiada seria outro. Ou transportes. Etc.

@RuiSeabra @ammdias Retirar da equação precisamente os usos de energia de que fala o meu post inicial é fazer batota. ;)

@RuiSeabra @ammdias Sim, mas mesmo sem capitalismo aconteceria o mesmo, porque as duas tecnologias que mencionei são extremamente devoradoras de energia, por vezes sem proveito evidente para ninguém, e esse apetite por energia iria ter sempre impacto nos preços ou na disponibilidade energética, caso os preços fossem subsidiados "à socialista".

Uma coisa que as pessoas deviam perceber bem:

Sabem toda a energia gasta por merdas inúteis como criptomoedas e blockchains e coisas menos inúteis mas também grandes consumidoras de energia como sistemas de "IA"?

Essa energia corresponde a um aumento de procura que faz pressão sobre os preços da energia. Ou, dito de outra forma, TAMBÉM é por causa dela que há mais inflação e estamos todos com menos dinheiro no bolso ao fim do mês.

@feditips No, nothing. It works simply as a site wrapped in fancy wrapping. No "external" functionalities at all.

And it's also pretty slow, though I don't know if that's due to the instance I'm in (it's also relatively slow on a computer browser).

I.e., after I open the thing, they're there, but there are no red numbers by the icon as per usual in normal social media apps.

On the other hand, I tried to do it with some other random sites (and with DDG), and it just worked as a simple shortcut. The two logos appear, and then the sites get opened with the browser interface in place. It's a bit weird.

@feditips Hang on... I tried this "add to main screen" thing, and it did create a shortcut on the phone. With a Friendica logo and a smaller chrome logo in the lower right. Is that it?

@feditips I did. Tried with DDG for android and with the default browser. Using Android 12

@feditips Custom emojis are usually very, very bad, though.

People just upload whatever images, not thinking that images small enough to accompany text have to remain legible to be really useful.

Even ordinary emojis can be too cluttered for their size, sometimes. Custom ones take this to the 10th power.
