"rape is about power" doesn't mean "rape is motivated by an internal, subjectively felt motivation of desiring power" (although that may be and is often a component of the motivation).

in cases where the perp did not even know it happened, that is about power. they are capable of not knowing it happened overwhelmingly because of the conditions of social power that empower them and restrict the victim's agency, irrespective of their own personal sense of power. All rape is always about power, regardless of the individual rapist's motivations

"Rape is not about sex, rape is about power" will always fail as an analysis. Rape is about power because gender and sexuality in a patriarchal society are inherently about power already. rape is about power not just because it is violence, but precisely because it is sexual.

consistently boggles my mind and infuriates me that white men get constantly away with positioning themselves as the true voices of Black feminism

it's ghoulish to watch and infuriating because living in a white supremacist patriarchy means they virtually always get met with praise and credit by other white people, who then start using "disagreeing with non-white-centered theory" to mean "disagreeing this white cis man." because white cis men's automatic entitlement to epistemic authority means they are always automatically treated as experts about whatever they're holding forth on

inevitably, they do this while not actually citing any specific actual Black feminists, (bc irl Black feminists do not actually agree with white men's white supremacist patriarchal abuse apologetics, but in fact quite the opposite) thus simultaneously co-opting Black and utterly silencing Black feminism itself

convincing people that worshipping "Great Men" is ideologically anti-anarchist even if those great men are dead french pedophiles (or dead greek or roman pedophiles) will not work because no one actually cares about opposing oppression and hierarchy, especially the hierarchy of sexual violence. we have to convince them it's uncool, embarrassing, and un-edgy. weaponize their die-hard commitment to the hierarchy of social prestige.
