@feld But the difference is that the US incentives are domestic, and designed to nurture development within the US's borders. $500m to pay American jobs to refurbish old auto factories. $7500 to middle-class Americans to buy EV rather than ICE. The Chinese incentives are 1) secret 2) external-facing. They're just taking losses. Combined with their supply chain of forced labor [1], it's clear the Chinese government is enacting predatory pricing & then lying about it.

@feld @corbin I’m happy to pay for software, especially to indie devs, but we all must recognize we’re in the minority. I think Isaac’s post here, which examines the software industry in its entirety, is correct.

@lowqualityfacts at this point, journalists have been conditioned to think that any service with less than a billion users is somehow a failure.

Tokina designs and manufactures Sony FE lenses[1], but I haven't heard of them announcing any new autofocus products in quite a while. I wonder what they're up to.
