H. Beam Piper wrote a story, “Lone Star Planet”, about Texans going to space and settling their own planet. Their legal system had an interesting rule: killing an active politician is not a crime by default. Friends of the corpse can go to court and claim that “he did NOT, in fact, have it coming to him”, and if they prove this, only then does it become a crime.

For some reason, every time I see Viktor Kurwan in the news, he reminds me of that story.

It could be exaggerated, but I don’t think it’s completely false. The US might have reserves exclusively for Israel, but not interested in sharing with everyone else.
