You're not wrong, but are still engaging in the same sort of reductive social sorting.
I could as easily write "For example, in some spaces being *seen* to portray AI users as shallow and opportunistic is important for status"

Unpopular opinion:
Dumb, non-tracking ads were the sweet spot for a vibrant web. They distribute resources more widely than subscriptions or donations with less effort for publishers/users. (But advertisers hate them for lack of observability/dynamic manipulation/metrics).
Surveillance, framework bloat, os/browser/app bundling and dark patterns. These are the devils, not ads per se.
Money = violence. The new oligarchy is making that plenty clear.
I might have to go full leftist or join my anarchic acquaintances.
But I LIKE markets 😬
They are convenient and distribute resources fairly well. ... Can we just not be jerks and have a functional, socially-oriented market economy? Please? Instead of a bloody class war?
So fucking jealous watching South Korea's institutions and people defuse an authoritarian threat in exactly the same way the United States didn't.
For 20 years I have been mellowing in my #atheism - moving from an angry truth-seeker to one who finds commonality in all shared humanity.
The conflict in Israel/Gaza, Christian nationalism in the US, Muslim fundamentalism, Hindu supremacists, etc, have me retracing steps back to a hard, intolerant atheism, that says if you will not accept the primacy of *this world we share* over worlds imagined beyond death, you cannot be trusted with decisions about your fellow humans. Fuck your excuses.
Predictions:
- A recession in the 2nd year following tariffs
- Violence against immigrants/Jews
- Ukraine forced to concede territory for peace (😢)
- 2nd country will be invaded by Russia
- Annexation of the West Bank
- Iincrease in BRICS trade agreements by US allies
- 3-4 near-nuclear countries will go nuclear
- 2 more Trump justices to SCOTUS
- Fight over NATO withdrawal
- US a diplomatic pariah, no one will trust agreements made with us
- National guard will be used against protesters
Trump's #deportation plan in reality: Round up as many people as can, put them in camps while you deport them.
Except: somehow the rate of deportation never catches up to the rate of detention. So the camps become permanent. Totally unexpected, of course.
Then why not use them as labor, to pay off their debt to us for "invading America"? So they are rented out to (Trump-aligned) industry by the new unitary federal executive as, essentially, slaves.
#CNN should acknowledge that every time they let a GOP politician on air they are engaging in propaganda, not "news", for the simple reason that their anchors are too passive to respond in real-time to the stream of lies and misdirection that is highly-refined GOP talking points. compare: #UK hosts
They simply walk over the host, give a great GOP propaganda performance, and leave smiling, with the public having been provided with no real context or counterpoints to the lies.
Just saw VP #Harris now has enough pledged delegates to secure nomination. That settles that.

A friend worked in printer/plotter service for a long time. He picked up 3D printing, 3D design, and Photoshop stuff as a hobby. He made the designs for these lightsabers for himself, printed them, painted them - There's no metal in this picture.
He's at loose ends, mid-life, and wants to change careers. Big Time movie buff. I would love to get him in touch with some people in special effects/film and make magic happen. #movies #film #design #GetFediHired
💯
What I'm hearing is that in a month and half they got 2/11th of the way to spelling "Shakespeare" (S----s-----)
So I think you really need to scale up either the number of monkeys and computers or the duration of the experiment before you can say anything with certainty! 😝
Re: Trump removal from ballots.
The argument that Trump needs to be defeated at the ballot box for the sake of democracy rather than being removed by action of law is utter nonsense.
The underlying assumption is that Trump voters will feel cheated, robbed of their votes, and that is a danger to democracy (unspoken: civil war).
And how is that different from them losing the election? The whole point of Trump's cult is that he didn't lose, that even if he does it's fraud.
#politics 1/2
No matter what, Trump voters are going to believe they were robbed.
So the rest of us, living in objective reality, should remove Trump according to our laws. That will deal with the threat as far as the system and laws.
Then we will have to deal with the social fallout, which is going to happen either way, because a tremendous number of people have been deceived, and aren't happy about having that pointed out to them.
Thanks reddit 😂
