With US Black History Month arriving soon and the generally sorry state of affairs in this cosmic joke of a nation, I want to start another Black‐centered #mutualaidthread.

If you are informed you may know that in the wake of the LA fires Black ppl's gofundmes have recieved less attention and fewer donations than white ppl's.

So if you're Black and interested, pls comment this thread with ur gofundmes/kofis/whichever fundraising method u use 🖤

What I really need 3rd parties to do rn is NOT evaporate into the ether, and take on the opportunity that arises with folks who are obviously jaded with this system.

Because it's clear dems are increasingly more interested in placating the far-right and keeping those policies that enable future mass extinction events. We need people who will actual advocate for us without talking down about "knights in shining armor."

Some may have a hard time understanding that the United States was a fascist entity before Trump was ever involved. Questions for you:

What do you think "manifest destiny" was?

What do you think Jim Crow was/is?

What do you think snipers on top of university buildings is?

What do you think children in cages is?

What do you think mass incarceration is?

What does police brutality support?

How and why does the US have imperial holdings such as Hawaii, Puerto Rico, hell, its own mainland?

As a genderqueer Black person with the capacity to give birth living in Texas, I'm finding a lot of you white liberal cishets to be overly dramatic. You just woke up in the same country we had yesterday. Instead of despairing that you don't know what to do, pull your self together and get in where you fit in. Stop depending on others to do your political work for you and become involved beyond telling people who they should vote for every 4 years.

I literally *cannot* allow myself to be dragged into the pits of despair and inaction. That could cost me my life. Obviously today is a sad day and we're scared, disappointed, disillusioned. But I really think some of you, particularly white liberals, are performing a learned helplessness that does nothing but place a larger burden of labor onto people like me. I saw this same thing 8 years ago. Do your fair share this time, please.

Now would probably be a good time to re-up on your birth control. And to start tracking your period without an app.

@mekkaokereke @hannu_ikonen I say that they leveraged white men's racism not to say they didn't have plenty of their own, but because they specifically appealed to white male political leaders in written correspondence pressuring them to grant white women the right to vote by saying their votes would cancel out white men. You don't have to tell me some white women are white supremacists, I experience this reality daily 😅

@hannu_ikonen @mekkaokereke they made Ida B Wells-Barnett and other Black women go to the back at rallies and attempted to get the right to vote by leveraging white men's racism, saying their votes would cancel out Black men's.

Same w language like "trauma dumping" (I have rarely if ever heard/seen this word used when a white man does it. Interesting) and "boundaries."

All of these terms hold value for sure; but, they are often used to suppress the healthy expression of those who might benefit from them because of the power dynamics of our society.

Westerners' tendencies toward pathologizing and institutionalizing non-normalized behavior then become iterated in language originally meant to empower.

I feel like the language of "unhealed" is becoming a weapon against the most vulnerable/marginalized people. Showing up "unhealed" in a space shouldn't be grounds to be rebuked from it. No one is completely "healed" anyway.

So what ends up happening a lot is that certain (neuro)types' ways of coping are socially acceptable and others are not. So the "unhealed" become more and more isolated, thus making it even harder to heal because it's p much impossible to heal in isolation.

I think vote shamers do that bc otherwise they are not politically active except for the occasional rally/protest (if that); and in order to feel some sense of control/empowerment they hyperfocus on blaming someone (a non voter, a 3rd party voter) for everything that's wrong with the US to avoid the reality that the US is what's wrong with the US and voting in national elections won't change the fundamental harms this nation is predicated upon and runs on

Personally I find it very funny whenever boomers refer to millenials as the "participation trophy generation" or whatev as if they themselves did not manufacture, determine the criteria for, and hand out the trophies.

Okay Worcestershirenosauce is such a good object lesson on how whites are all too keen to weaponize the language of violence against Black people (always already perceived as violent bc of white supremacist delusion) whenever they get the faintest hint of de-centering. We've seen this before, and recently. (cough eris cough)

Some whites are so narcissistic that a stranger saying she doesn't prioritize white men's opinion is "hate" to them. Then when they get critiqued they play victim.

What would Jesus do? Argue, probably 🙃
