All those people who are praying for the end of the “American Empire” for the good of mankind, are perfectly happy to sacrifice you and me. We’re just collateral damage to them. The price of freedom, or something, I guess.

I wonder if they would feel the same way if suddenly they were faced with the collapse of their own country. Maybe they have to flee, live in a foreign land, with nothing.

I’ve never been a fan of the emoji. I’ll use them occasionally on certain platforms when a thumbs up or heart are easy shorthand, but other than a smile or frown, up or down, I don’t use them and don’t know what most of them mean. I can’t imagine trying to figure out some AI generated nonsense. Is that a sexy snail in a bikini? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

Being a writer is terrifying work. If you have romantic notions of wiling away the hours in peaceful tranquility, let me disabuse you of this fatuous delusion. You are being asked to leave a pint of blood on the page. You are free to do what you wish, however you wish, but then you must show it to someone. You find yourself onstage, naked, facing a raucous crowd ready to tear you apart, and it doesn’t feel quite so tranquil.

@WarnerCrocker I think we’re saying the same thing but using the word differently. I’m writing about it today, I think.

@WarnerCrocker You’re funny. Yes, of course you’re right. I’m thinking more in line with how to tell them. I fear my straight forward approach might prove a little harsh. Although, that said, we don’t need any more timid artists. I need to write about this.

Young artists are a difficult paradox. Maybe youth doesn’t have anything to do with it. Maybe it’s just inexperience. They say they want constructive criticism but what they really want is someone to tell them how great they are. They want affirmation. Why wouldn’t they? But it blocks them from the criticism they need. This is not good. You might be one day, but this is not.

Ugh. I’m trying to be a better mentor. I don’t know why. What do you tell them? So much self indulgence.

@WarnerCrocker You mean the reunion tour thing with all the stars? I quite enjoyed that. I own it.

I loved Les Miserables. I saw in on stage with zero introduction or expectation and it blew my mind. Back when I still owned CDs, I had the original French soundtrack, the original broadway soundtrack, and some sort of live recording. I was in the music biz at the time. They were free. Still, I listened to them.

I borderline hated the movie.

@WarnerCrocker On a side note, I’m sort of enjoying the after effect of vaccines as I age. Oh, I’m gonna be napping for a day or two. Fuck off. Leave me alone. I’m a hero!

@WarnerCrocker Well, my daughter, her husband, and four grandchildren are there, so hope not.

@WarnerCrocker It’s not even that for me. While our constitution is amendable, the requirements are not longer realistic and the structure itself is too flawed to allow it. We could never change it because no one would ever agree to it. Like all the empty flyover states like the Dakotas are just going to concede power for the good of the country. You’d have to rewrite the constitution, starting from scratch. People act like a bunch of eggheads would be in charge. How do you think we got here?

I’ve never heard of Christmas fireworks, but either they’re going on in Dennisville, a town over, or wey’re under attack from those mysterious drones.

I’m tired of having this conversation, especially with foreigners, but the US is not going to change it’s form of government. If it ever were to, it would cease to be this country and it would require violent revolution, civil war, or a full invasion and subjugation. It’s not happening without millions dying and full scale economic collapse.

So, don’t tell me what experimental form of government you think we should take. It’s not a theoretical thought experiment for me.

I have a problem with chaos, especially loud and exuberant chaos. I like order and quiet and there’s not much of either in a world where groups of people are involved. Humans are social creatures and tend to congregate in clusters. When they do, it’s loud, and for those of us who find that difficult, we are forced to suffer along in silence. It may be your party, but it’s most definitely our pain.

@WarnerCrocker You’d certainly think. It’s not helping the conspiratorial minded among us. I think there might have been a few drones and then a bunch of airplanes people mistook for drones. Remember when every weather balloon, science project, or stray birthday balloon was getting shot out of the sky?

My idiot Congressman told the Pentagon he was worried they were being delivered from an Iranian Mothership. I don’t even know what that means.

@WarnerCrocker I’ll use it take a picture here and there, but it’s not practical for changing settings and I’m a goddamn photographer.

@WarnerCrocker I thought at the very least we were getting the new tactile shutter button, but it’s just the gateway to Google AI and ChatGPT. No thanks.

@WarnerCrocker All the stuff they’re offering from an AI standpoint, doesn’t interest me.
