#backinmyday, video games were released ‘finished’: if there were any bugs found in them post release, they’d be in the game forevermore.
This was a mixed bag in many ways. If a game was broken or glitchy to a ridiculous extent (ET on Atari, Superman 64, etc) it was stuck like that, so that wasn’t ideal…
But it also meant many games couldn’t be released unfinished and fixed with updates either, and the devs couldn’t patch out any glitches or finds the players liked.
This gets even scarier when you realise that Twitter has between half and a quarter of each country’s population at the most, and only a tiny percent of those use it regularly or post about trending topics.
So much of the time stories that affect like 1% of the population are turned into major events, and small amounts of people arguing are treated like there’s a major debate going on.
Yesterday I saw a post on #Threads from a journalist wondering how to do their job without #Twitter. Even to the point they wondered how work was possible without trending topics to look at.
And that’s kinda alarming to be honest. The media has become so dependent on Twitter to find news that they genuinely struggle to find sources and do their job without it.
Great game with some amazing tracks (Waluigi Pinball, Airship Fortress, Delfino Square, Luigi’s Mansion), and probably the best single player content in the series too.
On a different note, I have to wonder if data storage/bandwidth issues and expectations may be an issue for the #Fediverse going forward.
Large social media platforms like #Twitter operate with nearly unlimited file storage and users post large images and videos on a multiple per day basis.
But doesn’t work as well when individuals are hosting servers themselves. The storage requirements for daily/hourly video posts are kinda high.
So the theme for #vgmwednesday today is #middleeasternmelodies? Well, since Super Mario Land’s ruins theme was posted, I may as well share the awesome desert themes from the Mario & Luigi series.
@golemwire Nah just a clever use of the Guardless Active Shield glitch with a hydrant shield, which temporarily disabled collision for the invisible wall.
After a recent incident and the feeling that I seem to drive people away whenever they actually get to know me, I’m on the verge of just quitting the internet altogether.
I feel like the world would be better without me, and that my presence just seems to unintentionally hurt others.
So if I vanish from Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, Mastodon, etc, that’s why.
Full map completion, all shrines and Korok seeds, full compendium, all armour fully upgraded, all caves cleared, all overworld bosses defeated at least once, all quests etc
