Franz Von Werra – The Only German POW to Escape From Canada and Get Back Into the Fight Although there is a book written about his story and a movie by the same name (The One That Got Away), most people would not recognize this WWII soldier’s name or even his face. Franz von Werra, however, lived a fascinating life during WWII; primarily because he became known as the only Axis POW to escape Western custody and return to combat.

Werra was a German fighter pilot, known for his exceptional flying skills. He was captured after he was shot down over Britain. However, it was the Canadians he escaped from. His long and arduous journey took him through the United States, Mexico, Latin America and Spain before he finally made it back to his home country.

@thekitmalone You may not believe it, but you were right in assuming your opponents were harmless and ignorant. You were right to assume they were “honest about their goal” because had any of them known what kind of monsters they were dealing with I guarantee you they would have been twice as hostile then as we all are now.

Let me be clear, the hate you get is hate that you all earned. You earned the hate when you decided to attack people over pronouns. You earned the hate when you decided to go after children. You earned the hate when you decided that all the rules set by society for thousands of years no longer apply.

Now there are at least two young generations who are being abused by you and others in your corner and when they grow up they’re gonna show you first hand why a man who chose to shoot his mouth off at you instead of his rifle is the least of your concerns.
