My first email was a juno address, around 1997. They put floppies containing a little dialer prog in the back of magazines and you could get a free dialup email account.

Juno is still around, and still offering 10 hours per month free dialup internet access. i was thinking about how fun it would be to post to mastodon from my free dialup account. but i dont have modem. or a phone line.

you can still buy modems! US Robotics markets them as super secure backup connections. check this out!

an engineer with my agency just reported that they are on a call with some folks from City of Columbus OH.

they are doing city business on personal devices because City IT systems are still unavailable.
