@aardrian Access to the internet was an enormous problem in my part of NEW YORK CITY in spring 2020, when schools switched to remote learning. Some households connected only via mobile phone on the least expensive (ie, lowest bandwidth) data plan that would throttle down after awhile. Sometimes two or more siblings had to pass around one phone to attend class. It’s time to view high speed as a household utility, not a luxury.

It just might not be related to “hustle culture.” Instead, it may pertain to getting mental healthcare, paying down a debt, asking for advice on family matters, etc. US society encourages individualism.
