Here's something I find interesting. As a Gen Xer, I can easily remember how reliable to old Bell System was for telephone calls. Easily "five nines" or 99.999% uptime. Today it's routine for VoIP calls and T eams calls and Zoom calls to be "can you hear me?" "How about now?" I can't imagine growing up having to dial multiple times just to make a phone call but today society thinks meh, just part of the mediocrity. Don't expect mediocrity. Demand better.

Does anyone else think it’s weird that the only way we can get people to space is to essentially just explode them up there? Like, maybe we missed a chapter in the “physics of the universe” book or something?

@thomasfuchs I spent the last few months showing folks they could run their point of sale systems as if it was 1971 going to 1972 until they had a chance to upgrade after the first of the year

@thomasfuchs I am not familiar with the Brave folks… I shall have to research. Thanks for the heads up.

@jimcarroll I like this video! Not embarrassing at all. It's not like you were rapping about spreadsheets.

@thomasfuchs I use Firefox as much as I can, mixing in Safari on my Mac from time to time. I try really hard to stay away from Chrome and Edge is just awful.

It's weird to me that Apple is sunsetting Macs made as recently as 2017. If you are buying a new Mac to stay on the latest and greatest software, please don't landfill your current Mac. Donate it to a FreeGeek or similar organization. An "unsupported Mac" can continue as a valued computer running Linux for many more years beyond "the sunset".

@gme @feld Agree, but the U.S. swings the time around so the clocks have a "pretty" time to make people think they're experiencing longer days. There's no way we could switch to UTC.

A quickly learned habit when we moved to a non-Eastern time zone in the U.S.: ALWAYS include the time zone in any mentions of time with anyone that is elsewhere in the world. The U.S. is very Eastern Time Zone centric and folks on the East Coast seem to think all mentioned times are always Eastern, even when corresponding with offshores resources in India.

@gme Yep, I'm completely in the habit of doing that as well. My OCD flinches when I see "9:00 EST" at this time of year, but I've learned to deal with it :)
