There are many ways to interpret what I said, but two that comes to mind:
- "see! this is why TypeScript is pointless. Just use JavaScript!"
- "some people are too dumb to use TypeScript"

The vast majority of people who I both asked, and those who post online why they dislike TypeScript:
"We just end up resorting to `any` to appease the compiler anyways."
@mapachin I prefer TypeScript over JavaScript any day. I just wished the TC39 would hurry up and finalize type annotations into ECMA262.
I've seen Fediverse instances that have only ONE user signed up for it get hugged to death whenever a high-profile Fediverse account—more than 10K followers—boosts their post.
I say, efforts to make Twitter-scale Fediverse software is a huge win in my book.
It should lower the cost of operating a Fediverse instance, especially for single-profile users.
(I'm screenshotting because Mastodon still doesn't have quoted boosts!)
If the government isn't mandating the use of Web Environment Integrity, why should I care about it?
Question, because I'm trying to make the right decision:
why do some Fediverse software seem to mangle the URL of users?
On Mastodon, you can simply go to https://<domain name>/@<username>@<another domain name>
But on Pixelfed, for example, it becomes http://<domain name>/i/web/profile/<a string>.
Is there a security reason?
I have nothing against either decision.
I'm asking because I'm currently exploring the idea of implementing my own Fediverse software, and I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons.
There are hardly any JSON-LD libraries out there to help you properly interpret JSON-LD documents as RDF. That is, store the parsed JSON-LD as a lookup table, rather than a raw string formatted as N-Quads.
I'm beginning to think JSON-LD is merely being used for preventing naming collisions.
I guess RDF has an elegance to it, in theory.
Gotta put it into practice, especially as used in ActivityPub.
Psychometrics is overrated.
What are people using RDF for? This is not a rhetorical question, I'm curious to know what is your life if work, if you are using RDF at work.
Something about naively parsing JSON-LD like regular JSON feels a little off #JSONLD #LinkedData #LD #OpenData
As a JSON-LD noob, I think this is what JSON-LD is trying to solve:
- maintain consistency on what data represents what
- provide a specification what document belongs to what set of objects (via @`type`)
- provide a specification on how documents are related to other documents (via @`id`)
But I might be wrong.
I'm thinking out loud because I'm trying to figure out how to make sense of JSON-LD
@atomicpoet interesting.
I get the impression that people prefer to vote, because they get this perception of providing their thought, while remaining anonymous
This is beautiful.
Cantonese Font to help with pronunciation, for those learning cantonese https://visual-fonts.com/
@atomicpoet You see how I quote boosted you in that post?
Oh right. I did not quote boost you! I screenshotted your post. Because I can't quote boost you on Mastodon!
That's why I want CalcKey, not Mastodon
I'm now really tempted to move from Mastodon to CalcKey
I write code for fun, and for profit.For now, mostly talking about AI agents, since that's what I'm getting paid to work on, these days.#activitypub #fedi22 #go #typescript #react #nextjs #SoftwareDeveloper #programmer #programming #coding
