You can do mutual aid, you can care about other people, you can build cooperative networks to protect marginalized people from fascist violence, you can organize around changing the culture so that violent extraction is no longer regarded as a moral good. That's all fine and grand.

It's not going to change the fact that rich nazis who own your states very much intend to keep capitalism even if it turns the planet to ash and kills billions. Or that they plan to KILL you if you try to stop them.

So many arguments against what I'm saying literally come down to "you want it to be one way, but it's the other."

I really do wish we lived in a world where the rich nazi capitalists boiling our children like soup could be reasoned with or circumvented on a large enough scale to prevent billions of people from dying.

We do not, and they are arming up right now with the intention of killing you if you try to create that world against their wishes. It only takes ONE side to declare war.

I dunno, maybe it's possible to organize enough of the 8B+ people about to become fuel for billionaire booster rockets to Mars so they will simply surrender knowing they cannot win the fight. In theory, that's possible.

But it's certainly NOT the outcome the folks who own everything (including your governments) are intending and they are in fact taking VIOLENT countermeasures to prevent that from happening.

I'm not asking you to go full Che by yourself; just to accept reality in front of you.

No matter how much you change the culture, "not boiling us all to death for the benefit of a few thousand billionaire nazis" is NEVER going to be on the ballot. You will have to FIGHT for it, or they will fucking kill you.

And I can prove it, because that's why they're installing fascism all over the Pig Empire. They know you're not going to CHOOSE to fucking die for them, so they are removing your ability to choose.

And finally, and this again, is important:

You don't need to know how to organize a revolution, to know that the planet is on fire, billions of people are going to die, capitalism and the capitalist order are responsible, your leaders KNOW this, and instead of doing something about it, are curtaining your civil rights and building fascist police states to stop YOU from doing anything about it as we speed towards (even more) mass graves. Problems exist even if you don't KNOW the solution.

Furthermore, not only is it wholly unreasonable for you to ask someone to type out what amounts to entire books worth of instructions on social media, but, and this is IMPORTANT folks: we live in a fascist police state build to crush resistance to the capitalist order. Asking me to tell you how to overthrow capitalism online forces me to chose between being very vague, or inviting enough Feds to hold a cookout to my door. They WILL charge us with terrorist incitement because "against the left."

So, can we have nice things, or are we so concerned about these kinds of curation and privacy issues that we are unable to move forward?

Would argue that we can move forward while being aware of things that can go wrong and concerned about safety in the implementation of both technological and social progress. If we anticipate things that can go wrong and try to be intentional about our progress, it will be much better than dealing with all the fallout when things go off the rails.

5. Can packs themselves include 'hidden' toxic accounts so people are fooled into following them.

This is now a known issue on #Bluesky, and should be taken really seriously. The proliferation of packs without accountability can easily lead to 'malware' or 'trojan' packs that contain accounts that expose unwitting users to follow people they would never want to deal with.

This underscores that the above mentioned accountability and recourse requirements for any pack.

4. Can the pack list be used as a vector for abuse?

This is a tough one. Certainly these packs have the potential to be used by those who would target a particular group of people. The entire purpose of the pack is to help people find others with similar interests. But rogue actors can also use packs to find people to abuse.

It is hard to say how to combat this other than to continue to strengthen our communities and moderation activities, but need to acknowledge the threat.

3. If the pack includes bridged accounts to Threads and/or Bluesky does following it expose users data to these companies?

Some might not care, but others might not want to bridge to companies like Meta whose privacy policy says they can use it for targeting ads and training AI.

Any pack that includes addresses outside the Fediverse should include a notice eg. "NOTICE: Following these Threads accounts could lead to your information being shared with Meta as per their privacy policy."

We just had a whole election testing the theory that Democrats could win over "moderate" white conservative voters with someone as abhorrent as Trump as the alternative and it turns out those people like Trump just fine and want to continue voting for Republicans.

I'm so glad we didn't nuke the country and a bunch of people's human rights just to test this stupid ass, obviously wrong theory.

Oh, damn. Some people can't read a Goddess damn STOP sign if it hit 'em dead in the face and then whacked them in the a$$.

If you are asking someone what their solution is to a problem just so you can "gotcha" them by saying that their solution isn't yours, then you are not engaging in actual debate, but sealioning for facial dunks.
