@Infoseepage Indeed, the article mentions 27 senators who recently voted against. Only, history is not a zero memory process, and past events and causality play significant role in creating subsequent events. Hence my reference to Biden's support of the #genocide till the end of his presidency. Apparently most Democrats must have realized by now that they have alienated a large number of their constituents.
Two Democrat senators who visited Gaza accused the US government of enabling the described in their report ethnic cleansing. “We, the United States, are complicit in all of this.”
Reminder: Son-pardoner POTUS #Biden was the one who accepted #Netanyahu's argument that #Israel should do to #Gaza what the Allies did to Dresden. And the vast majority of Democrats supported that idea. About half of their caucus still fully support the #genocide of #Palestinians.
Execution of German general Anton Dostler, found guilty for war crimes in #WWII by a US military tribunal. Other war criminals were hanged instead of being shot.
I rarely read articles/papers that have the term "AI" in the title, lede or abstract. If the authors felt that their use of such vague and overhyped term would make their work more attractive or more authoritative to some audience, then I definitely don't belong to that audience.
But I always read articles that name technologies properly. It shows better understanding of the tools and more confidence in own work, and a promise that the rest of the work will be as diligent.
Anybody who has served in the army can tell what this is. And probably everybody else.
A silent protest by soldiers.
That's how they celebrated the 250th anniversary of the #USArmy and honored their oath to defend the country and the Constitution: the out-of-sync part was their message to the clown-in-chief exactly about that. 👍 👍 !!
Someone having the resources should create a fediverse account/instance called #GazaMemorial, like the @auschvitzmuseum, and start listing the names of victims of the #Israeli#genocide against Palestinians one by one on a daily basis, for 75000 days (205 years).
The millions of Jews who perished during WWII should be mentioned at a prominent spot on the front page, along with a statement that racism and genocide is the same whether it is about #Jews, #Palestinians or any other ethnic group.
When Jason Stanley, Professor of Philosophy at Yale, and Yale historian Timothy Snyder, both of whom have written books like "How Fascism Works" and "On Tyranny", flee the country to a safer one, you can probably start figuring out what your country has become.
Fleeing fascistic/dictatorial regimes had been a last resort for people fearing persecution in the 20th century. It's now happening in 21st century #USA.
As #Perseverance inches westward, so we see more of the southwestern valleys outside Jezero's rim, places where the rover will be visiting later in the spring and summer.

Robert A. Heinlein's #SciFi novella, 𝘐𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘎𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘖𝘯…, written in 1940 (also collected in 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘵 𝘪𝘯 2100), is about an American theocratic society ruled by christian fundamentalist prophets, the first of whom becomes a dictator in 2016 (!!).
The good thing with dystopian fiction is that, in the end, you usually escape into a much better reality. The bad thing with dystopian reality is that it takes a huge effort to make it a refuge of better reality.
Scientists announce that the processes which created the "poppy seeds" and "leopard spots" features #Perseverance encountered at Bright Angel were most likely biological metabolisms.
That's as close to announcing ancient life found on Mars as it has ever been
• Annotated excerpt from the paper (h/t @sharponlooker ) • "leopard spots" seen at the Cheyava Falls rock • "poppy seed" animation of the abrasion at the Walhalla Glades field
It baffles me how some scientists who spend their lives trying to interpret the world, physical and social, show disdain and fail to handle politics, i.e. a defining aspect of human society. Some whine excessively about the effects, but miss the causes entirely. Many won't even try.
Long lasting effects of McCarthyism? Fear of being called "socialist, communist, anarchist" by fascists? Life long indoctrination, social conditioning and propaganda at play?
OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman accused of sexual abuse by sister, in lawsuit
"[…] the abuse began when Ann Altman was three and Sam Altman was 12. The filing alleges that the last instance of abuse took place when he was an adult but his sister, known as Annie, was still a child."
@EricFielding@FediThing Of course there is no comparison between Biden and Trump, but extraordinary times require extraordinary leadership, and Biden clearly is not the man.
He could however just do the right thing as his last act as POTUS, one that will leave his mark in history.
Biden had the audacity to pardon his own son, but he doesn't seem to have the guts to snub Trump's inauguration. It is indicative of a man's stature.
Electrical engineerMarveling at the worldLots of Martian rocks and landscapes, looking all too familiar, but don't be fooled by that: Mars is an inhospitable toxic planet. Let's not mistake fiction for reality.I like dirt and rocks, but I Am Not A Geologist (IANAG).
