This is a good read on Substack by https://me.dm/@anildash, though it could be about any commercial online platform. It's precisely why I believe in a POSSE strategy.

@Karb_Derg @forteller @brainblasted This is why the European Payments Initiative was launched, to break the Visa / MasterCard duopoly with a pan-European alternative. Expect launches in various European countries this year.
It remains to be seen how much that will do for the rest of the world but it’s a start.
@evan @evanprodromou Oh, I misunderstood. Yes I've seen those integrations, including yours. That would be quite a step further than the current account, yes.

@VModifiedMind @neil I feel that one problem many FOSS projects have is that they only offer donations whereas a donation can be quite hard to account for in a company’s books.
If, however, a FOSS project offers something (and it can be really minor) that can be sold with an invoice then it’s suddenly just a purchase for a company.
With a subscription you run the risk of regular cost-cutting reviews, a one-off purchase is easier to justify.
@w7voa I believe someone should make a public overview of all the ongoing legal cases against Twitter. Complete with links to docket numbers, news coverage, analysis etc.
Just in Europe there are easily a dozen already underway or to start before the end of the year. Mainly labour law breaches, some upcoming privacy cases and probably Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act in the next 12 months.
The business of tech, micro/macro economics, politics across Europe, privacy tech and policy, public transport, urbanism, Europe.
