@WarnerCrocker I swear by my Lumie Brazil 10,000 lux SAD lamp. They don’t seem to sell it in the US. The Vitamin L looks closest to it. On Black Friday sale too! https://www.lumie.com/en-us/shop
The stuff about business and tech companies (the clacks) in Going Postal novel is more relevant now than it was in 2003 when it was published. As is the stuff about inclusion amongst different types of beings.
It’s a remarkably prescient book, given it's 20 years old.
It’s always been my favourite Discworld book. More so after the current reread.
Highly recommended. You don’t need to have read any other Discworld books to read it. It’s a good entry point.
Twitter is dead. Long live BlueSky. The exodus is real. - Ian Dunt
“To get the words coming out on the page - or screen or whatever - as close as dammit to the voice that you use when you are speaking. To finesse daily until you can write almost exactly as you speak. This really is the key to good writing. Twitter trained me in it even when I didn't realise I was doing it.”
@TheNovemberMan@WarnerCrocker It's on Variety now too. Apparently, the Sandy Hook families agreed to forgo some of what they are due to increase the bid value by Global Tetrahedron.
A must-watch 8-minute video from Brian Tyler Cohen.
He's right about building a progressive media ecosystem to combat and nullify the right-wing disinformation machine. Treat the NYT, CNN, and similar traditional outlets as just another small outlet. Not the go-to ones. People who matter get their information from other places now.
The same applies in the UK for The Guardian, FT, New Statesman, and others.
“Reach out to your American friends. You probably have them. Check in with them, offer condolences. Don't for a second engage in any of that British condescension about how foolish America can be. We are in no position to judge anyone. We're just as stupid as they are. They'll be hurting, more than you are hurting. Remind them that they have friends and that they feel the same.” - Ian Dunt
