so notorious multiple harrasser, troll and racist LinuxIsBest has another big pile of alts, getting in ppl's mentions, and making claims like this while spamming the fediblock hashtag as you can see, so you're gonna want to go and block Linux@masto.ai, but also all the other ones that crop up from this toxic person, that is all

I dunno how to tell the person who will remain unnamed, but let's call him martin owens the inkscape programmer with 3K followers that "our social contract is extremely thin and devs owe users NOTHING" is an incredibly shit take when it comes to, for example, attempting to squeeze some damn age restriction into some vital piece of software contained within a whole damn set of operating systems, and makes me think "welp, ain't touchin inkscape with a fuckin barge pole" well done, good pr.

A reminder that 10,736 of the total world stockpile of 12,331 nuclear warheads is owned by the US and Russia.
    https://www.icanw.org/nuclear_arsenals

    That's 87% of the world's stockpile.

A reminder that both these countries have first-use policies.

A reminder that the treaties that existed between these countries (INF and NewSTART) are now dead, due to the hubris of both nations.

So those figures would already be out of date cause they're beefin up that stockpile on account of there being no limits and no observation of either.

A reminder that their systems allow for unmitigated all-out no holds barred very short and extremely deadly war on the say-so of an extremely untrustworthy hierarchy.

A reminder that their 'testing' of such weapons on marginalised communities has caused untold horrors.

A reminder that only one of these nations has used nuclear weapons during a war.

And continues to make excuses for these war crimes.

A reminder that these nations 'share' their nuclear weapons with their allies, spreading them about further.

A reminder that neither of these countries has ever signed up to a prohibition on nuclear weapons
    https://www.icanw.org/united_states

    https://www.icanw.org/russia

A reminder that the peak nuclear stockpiles of the 60s and the 80s is *directly* attributable to these nations.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_nuclear_weapons_stockpiles_and_nuclear_tests_by_country#/media/File:US_and_USSR_nuclear_stockpiles.svg

There has *never* been a concern from these entities about nuclear weapons.

A reminder that if it weren't for select ppl who refused orders, none of us would even be here
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasily_Arkhipov

    and others.

A reminder that the words of the US and Russia mean nothing and their actions demonstrate what they are.

A reminder that if anybody is the threat, it's the ones that have existed all along.

A reminder that both are european colonies on other ppl's land.

A reminder that neither of these entities have been prosecuted for their crimes.

While they tell you how dangerous the nations they bombard supposedly are.

Historical nuclear weapons stockpiles and nuclear tests by country
This article shows various estimates of the nuclear weapon stockpiles of various countries at various points in time. This article also shows the number of nuclear weapons tests conducted by each country at various points in time. Nuclear weapons stockpiles The United States nuclear stockpile increased rapidly from 1945, peaked in 1966, and declined after that. By 2012, the United States had several times fewer nuclear weapons than it had in 1966. The Soviet Union developed its first nuclear weapon in 1949 and increased its nuclear stockpile rapidly until it peaked in 1986 under Mikhail Gorbachev. As Cold War tensions decreased, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Soviet and Russian nuclear stockpile decreased by over 80% between 1986 and 2012. The United States and Russian nuclear weapons stockpiles are projected to continue decreasing over the next decade. The United Kingdom became a nuclear power in 1952, and its nuclear arsenal peaked at just under 500 nuclear weapons in 1981. France became a nuclear power in 1960, and French nuclear stockpiles peaked at just over 500 nuclear weapons...

a reminder that evil is not a symptom of mental illness, you're just tryin to find a way of othering a behaviour that you could fall into yourself if you didn't look into the mirror and say "am I causing harm with this?" but that would be too hard so hey, let's throw others under the bus too with a distinct lack of appreciation of the irony involved

    Also worth noting:

    CS gas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CS_gas#History
    rubber bullets https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_bullet
etc etc, all developed in the UK. To be specifically used on civilians.

The kicker there is that while CS gas was developed in the Porton Down chemical weapons development site, they made an arbitrary distinction for it being a 'riot-control agent', among others.

    They are still chemical weapons.

    Developed by chemical weapons labs.

      CS gas
The compound 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile (also called o-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile; chemical formula: C10H5ClN2), a cyanocarbon, is the defining component of the lachrymatory agent commonly called CS gas, a tear gas used as a riot control agent, and is banned for use in warfare pursuant to the 1925 Geneva Protocol. Exposure causes a burning sensation and tearing of the eyes to the extent that the subject cannot keep their eyes open, and a burning irritation of the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth and throat, resulting in profuse coughing, nasal mucus discharge, disorientation, and difficulty breathing, partially incapacitating the subject. CS gas is an aerosol of a volatile solvent (a substance that dissolves other active substances and that easily evaporates) and 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, which is a solid compound at room temperature. CS gas is generally accepted as being a non-lethal weapon. History CS gas was first synthesized by two Americans, Ben Corson and Roger Stoughton, at Middlebury College in Vermont in 1928, and the chemical's name is...

      Rubber bullet
Rubber bullets (also called rubber baton rounds) are a type of baton round. Despite the name, rubber bullets typically have either a metal core with a rubber coating, or are a homogeneous admixture with rubber being a minority component. Although they are considered a less lethal alternative to metal projectiles, rubber bullets can still cause fatal injuries as well as other serious injuries such as blindness or other permanent disabilities. Like other similar projectiles made from plastic, wax, and wood, rubber bullets may be used for short range practice and animal control, but are most commonly used in riot control and to disperse protests. Rubber bullets were invented by the British Ministry of Defence for riot control purposes in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, and were first used there in 1970. Rubber projectiles have largely been replaced by other materials, as rubber tends to bounce uncontrollably. Composition and physical properties Analysis of the composition of the "rubber" pellets used by Chilean police shows that 80% of the pellets...
