Sitting next to some foreign policy types today, overhearing bits of conversation about AI/ML chip embargoes against China. Surprisingly good on technical details, but: left wholly unexamined was the (to my mind quite fundamental) question of "how exactly do we benefit from preventing China from being just as confidently wrong as we are?"
