@inthehands this ambiguous meaning has frustrated me to no end. It's why I tell people, "the Democratic party is the conservative one."
They always disagree with me but I hope it starts them thinking about what words mean and whether they're in a party because of identity or because they believe in the party's principles.

Fermented statistics is useful when you know and account for its limitations. It sucks if you don't because you often get a confident answer that is plausible, but wrong.

I'm thinking of calling the company out publicly for engaging in unethical practices. To wit: presenting espionage as a job opportunity.

The #job market is not competitive, it's downright adversarial!

Yeesh.
My Kia has a similar setup with the power mirrors. When it shorted out, the mirror tried to adjust even when the the car was off. My solution was to disconnect the mirror drive power cable.

@thomasfuchs _you_ could, and _I_ could, but I feel "run your own server" is a bit of an entitled position that's really not a generally good answer.

I wonder if that's what the world is coming to; only those with a certain skillset can expect security. Everyone else gets tracked and scammed.

@thomasfuchs at my last company, we implemented a policy of human verification for any account changes requested by email. Call a known telephone number and verify with your point of contact before making account changes.
We got burned once by an email scam and this policy prevents it from happening again.
