@baltakatei @pluralistic “having monopoly power does not itself violate the anti-trust laws" -- yes it does!
Or it used to anyway. And still does by the text of the law.

@AnarchoNinaWrites @jcutting Biden and Democrats still can't help running with an appeal to the imaginary referees, an appeal to Mom: "Did you see that Mom? Did you see Timmy hit me? Make him stop Mom!"
It just makes them look weak. There is no referee. A good Biden statement is "We're gonna put every damned Republican in prison." Instead they're trying to get Mom to intervene.
So, Israeli armed forces dress up as women and medics, sneak into a West Bank hospital, and execute several wounded patients in their hospital beds: https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-war-news-01-30-2024-b1ba33c7c0c5c62f85932a20c2a0bc92
That's like three different war crimes being committed in that one event. Israel really thumbing their noses at the ICJ, daring the world to stop them.
@BrynnTannehill74 A larger proportion of Americans than that explicitly want a democratic socialist country: one where the rich are heavily taxed and the poor are taken care of. But the US political system fights that off just fine, because no elites want it. The problem isn't that a percent of voters admit they want fascism but that almost all of the political elite want it at least a little bit - all GOP and most Dem elites think fascism would suit them just fine.
@emilygorcenski I don't know if that's a good prediction with the current Supreme Court. In fact, I'm almost certain it isn't.
@roryreckons The anti-trans crowd will be coming for all the letters in LGBT sooner or later. Just a matter of time.
My 'not a hellscape' shirt is raising a lot of questions already answered by my shirt. Politics, climate, collapse, tech, social policy, Canada, USA, whatever other random things interest me. Not on any political team except good governance.
