8 days till #FediForum, the unconference for the people who move the #Fediverse forward.
Over two half-days, we will see cool demos of innovative Fediverse software made by their creators, and then many breakout sessions on topics spanning the entirely spectrum of the Fediverse, from technology to moderation, from funding to culture and more.
... but I think all the approaches are lacking. I am hoping to encourage developers and other such people to pick up this project idea and run with it.
@n00q@don.n001.net is coming to #FediForum and says:
I am interested in pitching a federated alternative to bandcamp. I have a lot of experience as a DIY underground musician, so i understand the publishing needs of that world. There has been a lot of interest in finding or creating alternatives to bandcamp, and i think the Fediverse is a very good place to do that, ...
"Improving interoperability between servers that implement the Mastodon client API (and extensions to it like Pleroma, Friendica, etc) and different clients (native and web)"
We just published the first batch of demos. In the speed demo track, each developer has 5 minutes to show off the most interesting features of their #Fediverse-enabled software project.
So as an attendee, you can see many projects quickly, and decide which you want to learn about more. And not get bored if a project isn't for you.
We encourage developers to run longer sessions on their project later in the day with more details.
There is still time to register and join the us to discuss the future of the #fediverse
Like last September and a year ago, we are expecting many of the people who move the fediverse forward from all around the world, for two half-days of intense, attendee-driven discussions on all aspects of the fediverse from technology to funding, from moderation to inclusiveness and many other subjects.
@Rycaut is coming to FediForum and wants to talk about:
"How to support organizations (including commercial businesses) moving to the Fediverse"
Indeed we need to figure that out. And we are running FediForum so tough questions like this can be debated in a community of peers, and hopefully be advanced to a good resolution. Join us March19 and 20? https://fediforum.org
This subject of making developers more welcome in the fediverse, assuming good intentions and not actively driving them out for no good reason, would be a great session at #fediforum.
@johannab is coming to FediForum and wants to talk about:
“Socializing Fedizens”. How do we elevate the discourse, with policy, practice or tools, and limit the NEED for moderator activity in online conversation?
Status: sending out confirmation e-mails to FediForum speed demo participants.
Some of these demos are going to be really exciting. We can't wait to see them!
We may be able to squeeze two more demos into the schedule. If you would like to demo, don't delay contacting us.
And if we talked, but you haven't filled out the form that we have potential demo participants fill out, you are not on our radar or our schedule. So make sure you have.
The unconference for the people who move the Fediverse forward. What kind of better social media environment can we build together? Meet with your peers and make it so, together!Next FediForum: September 12-14, 2024. Check the website for details.
