On the web I don’t have to reimplement the web to add a feature to the web.

i chose "wait for the reader," which makes me very much want to know what the reader will look like and how can we bridge it into the rss world which is where my new reader is running. ;-)

also feedland runs in that world too of course. you could be the hub for activitypub, not just a client.

Wouldn't it be great if there were a list of WordPress users who have turned on their ActivityPub plugin, so we know who to subscribe to on our favorite ActivityPub service.

matthias -- i had not seen this, it's really well conceived and written. tells the story. now how do we get people to believe it's for real! 🙂

A podcast I did recently about the work I'm doing to create a social network for writers that's built out of the web, all parts replaceable. WordPress had some surprising well-hidden power. I hope people listen, esp people in the WordPress community.

I'm looking for people who primarily blog about WordPress. I want to create a home page where news items from these blogs are shown as they are published. Please reply to this post with the URL of the blog. It doesn't have to be your blog, btw, just one that you value.

we need to work on this -- what is the web. the social part seems relatively easy.

if the web includes facebook, twitter, instagram, then we need another word for places where you can http://textcasting.org writing.

i think if you let users write text to be published by your system, you have to at least pass through linking if you want to be part of the web.

wikipedia tends to pass along hype, not reality. i find that asking chatgpt will get a much more realistic answer.

here's a side-project we might work on. writing up what a *good* RSS feed coming from a social network would look like.

they all seem to rush through it and often leave out one crucial bit. if we just wrote up a simple profile they probably would all just do it that way.
