We can argue about the semantics but the USA is on the road to autocracy and/or fascism. This can only happen because a large silent majority thinks that it is OK, another part of the people is understandably afraid and doesn't resist. Just like Germany in the 1930s , chilling to watch.
The costs for the USA will be enormous but not that visible in the short-term.

From a technology perspective things will get messy in Europe, Vance has confirmed the US will go in full attack against our regulations (AI Act, DSA , DMA etc), how will we react, will we compromise or not? Big risks are involved because we are extremely dependent on US tech. The US could "shut us down" if they like...(Cloud, services etc). We should start migrating to EU tech and services ASAP and/or start to build them.

The US and Europe at least share the goal that european investments in defense need to increase. Those investments must be in european industry and weapons , NOT in US weapon systems, otherwise we never scale back on dependence from the USA. If we do that we can have our own credible military force in 5-10 years. Ukraine can play an important role in this, with their experience in war.

Regardless that efficiency and effectiveness are important. The fact that government is actually the hallmark of civilization and the way for people to organise things collectively in the last few thousands years, seems to totally escape people like Musk. But he desperately wants to make government the enemy. Which makes Musk the enemy of the people.
