All that will happen when we prosecute everyone in the Epstein files is that there will be room at the top for new people who are not part of a child rape and murder ring, and there will be less government, business, and diplomacy by blackmail.

Many Gen Xers like myself listened to Michael Stipe mumble his way through early R.E.M. albums like “Murmur” and “Reckoning”, and we made up our own lyrics in our heads and hearts, and loved their records.

Mr. Beat makes a comparison between the 2020's and the 1890's. History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme. I find this interesting because Trump often compares himself to President McKinley, who also enacted sky-high tariffs. That Presidency did not end happily either.

When a CEO says it is "time for de-escalation", what they are actually saying is, "please don't do a general strike or boycott that could lower corporate profits and my annual bonus, or demand that I stand up to Trump's fascism in any way, because I am a craven coward with no principles."

The first Trump term was like a disastrous hurricane. Then Biden rebuilt the structures that had fallen.

The second Trump term is a flood. The topography will have been permanently changed. There is no going back from here.

What happens next with the USA or its successor(s) will be very different than before.

If other democracies want to help democracy in America right now, they can start selling our treasuries.

That seems to be the only thing that gets Republicans to take action against Trump.

So Trump being an authoritarian dictator, attempting a coup, likely raping girls, and being a Russian asset didn’t end his Presidency.

But Europeans and Asians selling U.S. treasuries and tanking our bond markets could.

What a revelation about our “republic” and the Republican Party.

I want young LGBTQs to see the films Cabaret and Bent and to study queer history.

Berlin was a relatively safe city for us in the 1920’s. By 1940, we were being rounded up by NAZIs and sent to camps.

The lesson is that Civl Rights are never won forever. We must always be vigilant to keep them.

We need an opposition party in America. Not after the “midterms”, but today.

Because everything is obviously coming to a head long before November.

Watching Republicans and the right-wing news media dismiss Renee Nicole Good’s life as being less valuable for her being lesbian, reminds me just how these same people cheered forty years ago when HIV/AIDS was “killing all the right people”.

These bigots haven’t changed a bit.

I remember a history teacher saying, “when Iowa housewives turned against the Vietnam War, then it was inevitable we would end it.”

This feels like a 1970 Kent State Univ. massacre moment.

When enough white Americans turn against government authoritarianism/fascism, then things start to shift.

We don’t need all the Trump/MAGA cultists to wake up — just enough white Americans to see this as their struggle too. It shouldn’t be this way, but that has been American history.

Sadly, there will be millions more Americans who finally care about the horrible actions of ICE now that they have killed a white woman.

Yes, fascism will eventually come for everyone. Everyone.
