Cryptography is only needed in Nostr because relays are many and not just one. The relay infrastructure precedes the need for keys.
Maybe this is obvious, but just in case.

Looking for talented artists to create hand-drawn image diagrams explaining Nostr and the relationship between clients and relays. The diagrams should be clear, concise, self-contained and visually appealing. Multiple submissions will be accepted and rewarded with a bounty. Get creative and show us your skills!

Nostr cannot compete against the big platforms on the same field. If you try to make Nostr apps exactly like Twitter they will just be an inferior copycat. Nostr's competitive advantage is the fact that it is an open protocol, trying to hide that from users is the asking for defeat.

What I mean is that apps shouldn't be afraid of displaying cryptographic gibberish, raw JSON or relay URLs to end users.

Why not also "handle", "nickname", "display", "DisplayName", "nick_name", "user_name", "user", "Name"?

Why can't Nostr polls be just like "like" reactions? You vote you vote, it's just an event. If it works for reactions it works for polls. Spam and sybil filtering must be made at the reader client or at the relay level, just like for reactions.

Why? You hadn't been pwned before?

But seriously, instead of follower counts an engagement metric calculated from the amount of replies and whatnot that your posts receive would probably be easier to do in Nostr and more valuable for end users.

Imagine a world in which every website could be just a link preview.

To be honest I think we would lose a cage fight against Zuck since he is probably made of steel.

Added you back to the NIPs repo.
Please keep bringing your valuable comments and proposals while we're still living in centralized repository world. And that includes criticism of all the NIP proposals that are happening (most of which I am against myself but people are doing anyway) and of the way the NIPs repo is run.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Alby has started to return a {created: true} object from webln.enable() calls, which is not in the spec (the spec says to return an empty Promise).
Now some websites are relying on that {created: true} object being present and assuming webln doesn't exist otherwise, which makes it so they won't work on any other extension or environment that correctly implements the webln standard but not the "Alby standard".
In this case it might be a silly example, but this is how protocols die.

I just wish they exposed their API in a standard Nostr relay format.

I am glad I didn't overthink. That could have been the ruin of Nostr.

Nostr was directly inspired by BitTorrent trackers. BitTorrent trackers are the most amazing invention in all of p2p technology. Simple made easy.
