    We tried, but it was dismissed. Possibly #subkeys will here here. There has not been a successful attack demonstrated yet, tho. A bigger weakness is giving 3rd parties access to private keys. I do think when nostr gets robust key rotation it will solve a lot of problems.

    #nostr needs personal data stores. Imagine you could store all your JSON data including archived events in a mongodb database for a small fee. That would enable decentralized event storage and also storage for micro apps without stressing the relay network. The whole thing could be secured with passport-nostr and #nip98

    It's a good UX, we should learn from it. Or port their client to nostr. Do they own your keys, though? At proto is a train wreck, honestly. They have cherry picked things from other systems quite inconsistently, and not the best bits, some of the worst bits. They have about 6 different types of identity in a single json file that is inconsistent with the standard and itself. It cant scale too well without a giant server. However they did make the smart move of investing (alot) in infrastructure, which is something they did better than nostr. Nostr can handle 10k DAU, maybe 2x that right now, in the hobby network, but not 10x like bluesky can. Different approaches, lots to learn, I hope it can be discussed at Nostrasia, especially scaling nostr, the good onboarding, great content curation for new and existing users. In that order because, onboarding is most useful when the network has capacity for new users.

    No strong opinion here, but isnt it up to the user what they put in their profile?

    In Solid we had open ended profiles. That's an aspect of decentralization that I loved.

    Linked data in general allows lots of fields.

    Mastodon lets you add 4 fields in a quite restrictive way.

    Referring to a nip for descriptions and guidance could be useful (all be it quite centralized) another way would be to make an LD type vocab that could be extended, similar to:

    Ultimately first generation apps, goverrned by the NIP process will move fast and break things. 2nd generation might learn from that approach and build in a more long-term way.

    That would be amazing. It would align git the protocol, and git the identity system to be based on content addressable hashes. Then the whole system becomes decentralized, as it was intended. Actually that's a big step forward.

    Yes, makes sense. They are also integrating AP. Gogs is more lightweight but has fewer features.

      Just discovered this FEP, it’s awesome, thank you so much for creating it @arnelson! Love how simple and clear it’s ended up, using well established attributes like rel for canonical and alternate and not needing any new properties. I should definitely adopt this in https://fed.brid.gy/ . It currently bridges web (via mf2 and webmention) and AP, I’m actively working on adding more protocols like you describe. Webmention isn’t in your list of example protocols, but it seems like it will fit fine...
