@killyourfm I've got plenty still inside me ready to come out, and it will one day. But I've also been on stage singing my songs several times. That's where the real buzz is. I can't recommend playing live highly enough. Even if it's just solo. Normally solo means acoustic but I've played clean electric live on my own and it was fine. Give it a go if you can.

I've only just caught up with @killyourfm's new release. If you like rock music with raw and emotional lyrics, you'll love it! Check it out on pretty much any platform you can think of, linked from here:

One of these days I'll get round to writing some more music...

@killyourfm when you're young, music can often be a huge part of your identity. Specifically which genres and artists you're into and the various fashion trends that go with it etc. Humans are inherently tribal and as a kid you explore ideas of tribalism through music. But then when you get old enough to not care about being cool, you can enjoy a Miley song or two because they are great and she's an amazing singer.

@killyourfm I think growing up musically means learning to judge each piece of music purely on its merits. Take away image and reputation and preconceived ideas, and just judge the stereo audio file for what it is.

@killyourfm it's actually a really good song and she's a hell of a singer. There's room for a bit of straight up pop in my life alongside rock and metal and drum n bass and everything else.

@killyourfm yeah there's something really nice about just plugging in, flicking a switch, and playing instantly. And being able to turn actual knobs to control things. You can hook the Katana up to a PC though to get more effects and tweak them etc. Kinda the best of both worlds.

Surround yourself with people who aren't afraid to call you a fucking idiot sometimes, even if they say it a bit more diplomatically. If nobody you know ever criticises anything you do or say, people are walking on eggshells while they watch you make horrible mistakes because they are too polite to tell you otherwise.

What jobs we’d do if we didn’t work in IT, foreign countries we’d live in, the musical genres we are into, and what musical talents (if any) we have. With Amolith from Linux Downtime, Martin and Mark from Linux Matters, and Gary from Linux After Dark.

@killyourfm @JDFightMusic I came here to say the same thing! I know you've said before that 90s rock is the foundation for almost all your music and this track is no exception. But there's also something distinctly 2020s about it. I _think_ it might be the vocals. There was a time in the 90s when the vowels just got out of hand but you didn't do that here. Hope that makes sense.

Also Radio Free Fedi is awesome. Thanks for promoting that BTW. I submitted my albums and have made a few sales!

Should open source projects use open platforms for their communities, or should they meet people where they are – places like Discord?
