Probleme von Autobesitzer:innen in einer Großstadt:

(Meine Schwiegermutter schafft es nicht sich vom Auto zu trennen, obwohl sie es gar nicht mehr benutzt)

- Wo haben wir es zuletzt abgestellt?
- Wir müssen es mal bewegen, damit die Batterie nicht komplett entlädt.
- Oh, wir haben ein Parkticket bekommen. Gab vermutlich eine temporäre Parkverbotszone.
- Ah, auf dem Ticket steht, wo das Auto geparkt ist!
- Wer hat es da eigentlich hingestellt? Und wann war das denn? Irgendwann letztes Jahr?

I don't like the ever advancing surveillance, and I am stubborn. So every time I take a flight I protest the millimeter wave scanners or nude scanners as I like to call them. They usually are optional, you just need to communicate your wish to the security personnel. The alternative procedure is usually a full pat down, but it's called differently everywhere:

- an opt-out
- a 100%
- a manual

Today I learnt a new name:

- a full frisk

Darn. Today, I lost my streak and got scanned in a naked scanner for the first time. Sydney airport's policy is: If you get selected for a naked scanner you go through or you're barred from passing security for 24hrs.

The security guard yesterday, who frisked me instead, was just being nice.

You may wonder: Isn't that a stupid way to protest? Why am I even doing this futile exercise?

It's about self perception and integrity. I hate caving in just because it's more convenient.

Ratet mal wie teuer eine Bus-/Zug- oder Fährfahrt in Brisbane ist?

In Hamburg kostet eine Kurzstrecke 2€. Eine "normale" Einzelfahrt 3,90€.

Hier kostet jede Fahrt umgerechnet 0,30€.

Nächsten Monat werde ich das erste Mal in meinem Leben ein paar Tage am Stück ein Elektroauto fahren. Es hat kein Navi eingebaut. Also suche ich eine Android-App, in der ich einstellen kann was für ein Auto es ist (wegen des Steckers und der Laderate), wie voll mein Akku ist und anschließend eine Route mit Ladeempfehlungen bekomme.

Aber in Australien. Hat wer ne Empfehlung?

Bonuspunkte wenn die App auch mit Android Car interagieren kann.

I am searching for a simple connector system for gear on my bike helmet. I found Klick Fast by Peter Jones, which is pretty much what I am looking for, but I cannot find a stud I could attach to my Buddy Chat (see picture).

Any ideas how I could click these headsets on and off easily?

Angenommen ihr müsstet einen Zeitungsartikel zur Vorstellung des Berufsbildes Penetration Testing/Hacking vorstellen. Wie würdet ihr den bebildern, wenn ihr nicht Klischees mit Hoodies bedienen wollt?

Also, I believe we've been victim of a scam. They advertise this good looking, well located, (previously) highly rated place, book it multiple times and then they send you to a different, old, cheap hotel around the corner instead.

The reviews of the guesthouse also had several similar stories where people were double booked and sent to the same hotel. If it happens once, ok, but several times within 3 months?

Did I mention this is Venice (Mestre) during a Christian holiday, so all the hotels are either booked out or ask fantastic prices like 1.000€ per night? Or even higher? Hotels.com and Best Western were able to free a room by rearranging other bookings and got us in so that we don't have to move rooms several times during our stay.

After a few more calls with the owner of the appartment where we came to no solution, we checked with hotels.com through whom we booked and paid the deal. Good thing we did so, because they agreed this is not acceptable and booked us on a better hotel at no extra cost.

Meanwhile I checked the ratings on the guesthouse we originally booked and saw they've gone down significantly since we booked. From like 9.0 to 6.0 where the last ones were around 4.0 (all out of 10.0).
