Nordkorea liefert Russland offenbar schwere Artillerie
I wrote a few months ago that the #Ukraine armed forces is the only body in the world with the means to enforce international humanitarian conventions on the #Russia.
A few days ago, another execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war took place in the Kursk region.
Today, the Ukrainian specnaz, together with the 95th DShB, recaptured the positions where this occurred and published photos of the Russian soldiers who occupied it. Sadly posthumous, they all died during the fighting.
As I wrote then, humanitarian law only makes sense if it is a bilateral agreement that does not apply to those who knowingly reject it.
Damian Duda, a #Poland volunteer medic in #Ukraine, has just posted an incredible story:
For 24 days, the Dnipro tourniquet was on the arm of a soldier of a rifle battalion of one of the ZSU brigades. The soldier was buried under rubble in the ruins of Volchansk. After 22 days, he managed to crawl out. He was spotted during aerial reconnaissance by drone and evacuated two days later by a reconnaissance group. There is not always a chance to save a limb after applying a tourniquet, but a well-placed tourniquet when needed saves lives. In addition to his strong will to live, this man is also characterised by his skills - he survived thanks to effective self-help. This is information for all soldiers: a medic will not always find you. Take care of yourself first. Train every day to the point of muscle memory.
@glynmoody #Zelensky is an amazingly canny operator and without him I can't see how #Ukraine would have got this far.
His strategy is always to isolate #Putin as much as possible while trying his best not to alieniate his piss poor allies, whether Biden, EU or Trump.
I am in awe at his powerful diplomacy while watching his countrymen die in unnecessarily large numbers because we (collectively) prevaricate and fumble from a safe distance.
As with #Gaza, we are a truly despicable, shameful West
Ukraine-Liveblog: ++ FDP erwägt "Taurus"-Abstimmung im Bundestag ++
@randahl FYI, it’s pretty clear now that #Kursk is a giant trap for Russian troops. Russia are repeatedly, and therefore predictably, throwing their best equipment and best troops in their biggest numbers, down the best and therefore predictable routes.
Russia also has the Soviet doctrine of charging on a rout.
It’s at the point that #Ukraine is retreating on purpose, drawing Russian troops over minefields before pushing forward again to mop up. Rinse and repeat.
It’s still a hard fight but Ukraine has created a Russian soldier eating machine it is in control of, with all the mine mess being on Russian land.
