I'm really ready to go back home. I'm really not planning to spend much time in #SoCal after this. It isn't home, and there's really nothing pulling me back any more.
Today is the 7th anniversary of the Charlottesville Unite The Right racist/fascist rally. A large part of it was planned in Orange County, CA. PBS has a documentary about it, Documenting Hate: Charlottesville. Never let anyone tell you California is a wonderland. We grow hate in our backyard too.
LAUSD is a big target, because they have so many students and such a large budget. They need to remember that and be more aware. I'm sure attackers would still go after "Tinytown School District" with 10 employees and 100 students, but they probably wouldn't expend as much effort ... since they can't get as much money for the information stolen.
The last time I was on that bridge, I thought the surface was really bad. Apparently, heavy truck traffic damaged the surface.
Honestly, in view of the Francis Scott Key bridge's collapse, they should investigate structural support as well. It may be time to completely replace the bridge.
I'll have to ensure that "personal" documents (such as tax forms and people's non-agency contact info) are copied off of the agency's equipment before I send in the resignation. That way, all I need is for them to send a shipping label (even better if Fedex will pick it up, because I don't know where their nearest storefront is).
Since the agency's cellphone is still en route from #SoCal to #SWMO, I would wait up to a week longer. Except there are several deadlines coming up very soon, including one that would require them to spend hundreds of dollars (that they don't need to spend if I'm leaving) and one which involves some anticipated policy changes that I don't agree with.
To be honest, in that part of #SoCal, I'd probably directly contact the University of California's Riverside campus with that question. That would cut through all the #SEO manipulation of search results and get information straight from someone who knows what they're talking about.

Since I'm rearranging my life, I'll be quitting $EMPLOYER pretty quickly. I had intended to wait until I have a replacement, but I think it is better to change everything at once and walk away now.
!SoCal storm has arrived. Plenty of rain in the #Inland_Empire. The pass was both foggy and rainy, with lots of big rigs splashing water onto windshields.
A mama roadrunner, Meep, used to live in our big metal dino's mouth, & she & her baby daddy, Dart, raised more than one bebe there. We used to put out fresh water & black soldier fly grubs for them every morning, & Meep came to trust us to the point that she'd bring her fledglings to the patio & feed them. Sadly, they've all moved on, but I was lucky enough to get a video of her feeding one of her little ones. Here's a clip! #birds#roadrunners#BirdsOfMastodon#SoCal#desert
There is a lake at the end of the street. This area of !SoCal did not get anywhere near the rain that the #Los_Angeles area got, but it is still a poor drainage zone.
@clacke At least FR is seven hours later, not earlier. If I'm working in #SoCal and I send e-mail to someone in Washington DC, three hours ahead, I need to send it before noon my time or I may miss the person.
I remember walking home from work with one of my brothers in the 1980s as helicopters 🚁 sprayed malathion laced bait overhead because of an infestation of Mediterranean fruit flies 🪰.
@clacke Are you watching a movie or the "Arrow" TV series? #sonTwo used to watch Arrow (so much that he streamed it when he visited #SoCal from his then-current home in #FL).
I don't think that's the show that the dog got its name from though. I think that was some other series.
