I am looking for a free Nextcloud account, but the ones recommended officially by @nextcloud are just 6 month limited offer or without https.

I am fine with 100MB space, just like to test syncing of calendar, contacts and stuff. But I need encryption (disk space and https).

Tô pensando em rachar esses custos de hospedagem do #Nextcloud. Alguém tem interesse de testar sem compromisso por um tempo determinado e se curtir, negociar um valor mensal por uns gigabytes?

Se alguém estiver simplesmente curioso com Nextcloud e quiser uma conta temporária na minha instância, também rola na boa. Só falar.

Tudo criptografado, não tenho acesso a senhas e muito menos arquivos ou nada armazenado nas contas de usuário (isso nem é possível por design).

Dúvidas? Manda ver aqui!

Hoje me dei conta que faz 4,5 anos que eu hospedo minha instância do #Nextcloud. Naquele tempo eu não sabia nada sobre VPS, sobre como configurar as coisas e etc. mas eu sabia que podia, sempre fui safo com tecnologia. Hoje dei uma mega manutenção, inclusive.

Muito orgulho galera. Ter a própria nuvem, todos arquivos, calendários, contatos, notas, tudo sincronizado entre dispositivos, disponível no celular e sob meu controle! Nada mais satisfatório que a dopamina da #autohospedagem (ou #selfhosting para os íntimos).

on my way to get rid of US services i try to stop using iCloud for storing photos from my iPhone but it seems like nothing really works well.

proton drive took a week to upload the 120Gb of photos once, and now tells me every few days again that it’s „preparing to backup 19000 photos“, including long hangs at start, etc.

Nextcloud keeps just behaving strange.

Andere Idee: Eins kann doch in der nextcloud auch externe Laufwerke einbinden. Kann ich die #pCloud via WebDAV in die #nextcloud einbinden?

Dann müsste ich keinen Homeserver betreiben sondern könnte die nextcloud bei irgendeinem hoster laufen lassen und die zig TB könnten in der pCloud liegen.

Ich finde es top, dass man über #unplugtrump viele gute Vorschläge und Diskussionen bekommt.
Da ich schon etwas länger #google #Amazon und co meide und meine Daten auf der #Nextcloud liegen, sind meine Hauptanliegen momentan #PayPal endlich los zu bekommen und hoffe darauf, dass #Wero weiter voran kommt. Hier bin ich aber auch für weitere Vorschläge offen. Die Infos zu #Spotify hier fand ich jedoch auch spannend, da muss ich wohl dringend mal dran gehen!

Every time someone recommends stuff like #LineageOS, #Nextcloud, #HomeAssistant or #Linux as "alternative to big tech" without pointing to places where you can *buy that stuff ready-to-use* I want to scream.

So many tech enthusiasts are utterly disconnected from the reality of those who are not into tech it's not even remotely funny anymore. Even IF our education was good, recommending to just flash your own smartphone is utter insanity.
