    Active storm tonight. There were #NOAA / #NWS severe #t-storm alerts in #OK, #KS, #NE, #MO, #IA. Also #tornadoes. One went NW of Springfield Missouri. No known casualties.

    Most of these are radar indicated, but some are confirmed, including the one near Springfield.

    #NOAA / #NWS is still warning about spots with minor to moderate flooding in #MO, #KS, related to last week's storms. Includes at least one local highway and low-lying areas near rivers / creeks / streams.

    In one case, the water is at least 10 feet / 3 meters other its banks.

    #NOAA / #NWS has issued tornado watches in central #KS, SE #NE, and the #KCMO / #KCK area. A couple of watches are cancelled but others remain.

    Today, there have been several alerts across parts of #KS and #MO for severe #t-storms, hail, heavy rain, flash floods, urban floods, and most recently river flooding.

    All the flooding alerts I saw were listed as minor, so there were probably not any dead flooding victims.

    I first read about this in a #Kansas news site. There, it sounded like the bank CEO was victimized by overseas scammers and then embezzled bank funds to keep going. (e.g., he was the pig, not the butcher) This article says he was the butcher, so I assume the bank's customers were the pig(s).

    Seems widespread across SW #MO and SE #KS, but spotty. For example, in Greene County, #Missouri, only 6K out of 170K customers are out of power. In Franklin County #Kansas, 2K out of 6.5K are out.

    Of course, this is 12 hours after it started.

    #NOAA / #NWS alerting: #tornado warnings for parts of #KS and #NE. At least one confirmed in Central #Kansas near Emporia.

    If you don't yet have one, get a NOAA weather radio and use the "SAME" code to set it for your county. That way, in addition to your cellphone's alert tone, you'll get alerted with tones and speech.

    I have never seen one, but everyone tells me that #tornadoes are no joke.

    The cold event in the middle of the country (from at least #NE, #KS, and #MO to #OH and probably beyond) continues to march forward. Tonight, wind chills could be as low as -50F in some areas. Up to six inches of snow, and winds up to 50MPH.

    This is potentially deadly weather, so if you're in an affected area, make sure you have food, fuel, water, blankets, warm clothing, and then stay inside with your heater running.

    #NOAA / #NWS has been alerting about this for a few days to encourage people to prepare.
