We love freedom 1, the freedom to study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish. Boost this post to share this freedom! Read about the four freedoms of #FreeSoftware: https://u.fsf.org/2cj

The FSF believes every computer user deserves freedom and tirelessly demonstrates how to do almost everything with #freesoftware. Not only do we provide resources and information on how to realize #softwarefreedom in your daily life, the FSF itself also runs entirely on free software. Support the FSF and help us reach our goal of 200 new associate members by July 26: http://www.fsf.org/join#BecomeAnFSFAssociateMember

Can we please replace #freesoftware with #libresoftware ? I keep hearing people confusing free software with freeware, and no amount of Stallman hemming and hawing is going to change that. Libre exclusively means "liberty". It's clear and easy and doesn't run the risk of people mislabeling gratis but proprietary software as free software.
Let me make this very clear: you volunteered to pay for and install a #botnet software in your computers. Now it's #commandandcontrol servers had an issue and it broke your business.
You're not firing people and moving to #FreeSoftware because...?

Another thing today's incident in #Azure and #Crowdstrike taught us: proprietary software, even security oriented software, is malicious software that can take your business down should *anyone with enough privileges* at those companies want to.
The #europeanunion should reinforce #NGI, rather than silently killing it, with explicit mandates and funding to improve #FreeSoftware in all aspects, including reliability and security.
A random thought struck me. Freedom 1 of the four software freedoms says: "The freedom to study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish (freedom 1)." and it seems to only care about the end result "so it does your computing as you wish". This leads me to believe that it should be possible to limit the development models through licensing as long as that model can produce that result in theory. Has this loophole already been discussed? #freesoftware#opensource
