@ray my story of getting into them is pretty funny, I had seen their albums in the store in the 90s and been struck by the brute covers but I had literally no avenue to experience music other than it coming on the radio or someone playing it for me (I didn't live anywhere with listening kiosks) and it had no radio play and no presence among my friends so I had no idea what it sounded like. Then as I was graduating high school Columbine happened, and in the frenzy of trying to find a pop culture product to blame, I saw it mentioned that they listened to Rammstein and KMFDM. I was like "well Rammstein kicks ass, maybe I should try KMFDM too"
This was also the exact moment of Napster so I got a massive unorganized pile of KMFDM mp3s (including several that learned years later weren't them) and I've been following the ultra heavy beat ever since
