Adrianna TanI think when I was more cis and straight passing, I ‘passed’ as one of them but I think if I had taken it too seriously I would never have been accepted anyway. I was the fun pleb girls they date, marriage is a whole other thing. I know so many people who married into that world and Michelle Yeoh’s performance in crazy Rich Asians, while great, doesn’t quite capture the full extent and rejection of being a straggler in old money Asian society.
