When the economy collapsed in 2008, a lot of my friends were asking me what caused it. I replied with some NYT opinion columnist pablum until I realized I simply didn't know. So I learned everything I could about what actually happened and my conclusion was that it was one of the greatest crimes ever committed and that those responsible not only didn't suffer consequences, but were richly rewarded.
