@inoru_no_hoshi my doctor did check for basic neurological stuff and it all seemed fine. At the point I saw her, it had only been debilitating for 3 days, and there weren't any red flags. (A week ago, it was a nuisance but I could still work.)
I will always try very hard to avoid going to the emergency department unless there's no other option! It doesn't cost anything in terms of money, but it's always horrible & stressful & these days there's a much higher risk of catching covid too.
We have Nurse on Call though, which is a great service that I've used a few times. You call & speak to a nurse, who can connect you to a doctor if needed, or tell you if you really ought to go to an emergency department, and if you need to go by ambulance.
