While I 100% with your postulate in general, this only works with people who engage in civilised discussion using some arguments. When someone jumps at you with insults only, muting is just a half-measure because these types will happily continue ranting behind your back, you’ll just not see these insults. “Preventing them from seeing or interacting with your content” is specifically what works.
