@itzpaquet the origin of my subtoot is a guy that is obviously tactically accusing critics of his product of anti-blackness and the community response is fear of simply saying "this guy is operating in bad faith" because it opens a can of worms so instead they all have to pretend they are the victim of a terrible mistake. so it is not an argument from first principles it is about a specific on-the-ground event that someone might disagree with my interpretation.

In practice, if someone is nominally "on my side" then meta argumentation is forbidden ex. "believe women" but of course if an enemy is acting in bad faith, "never/always" suddenly becomes squishy. As someone on the outside, the backtracking every time this happens is humorous. My life is relatively simple, I accept that questioning motives is always allowed, but you still have to convince people of that.
