@alfredohno @ellenor2000 at this point it's just funny
it happens repeatedly that people tell me "oh X is so much better than Y [the old version of X]" and then I get my hands on X a few years later and it's just mediocre

my old phone is from 2015 and my new one from 2020 and for being three times the age the micro-USB port on the old phone has held up much better than the USB-C on the new one

but I also only have a sample size of one because like, what else uses USB B connectors at this point? networks have displaced all the uses I can think of besides charging phones; printers, external storage... actually I think that was all I used B connectors for anyway
and I guess it'll be at least another two years before I get a sample size of 2, assuming the USB connector on my current phone doesn't fail, because what other usecase is left?
