agreed, but the "benefits" of not cheating must outweigh the "incentives" - subjectively in that moment of cheating.

as generalizations:

for men it's mostly being horny without release or - mostly for older men - to verify that their virility is still intact.

for women it's the wish to be desired and the need for intimacy.
