@dank @mhoye @AnarchoNinaWrites This is just another version of non constructive doomerism and is not the case. None of the important current cryptography is secretly broken now and most likely it never will be. The people who think it will are practing magical thinking and also believe in stuff like dyson spheres and singularity and roku's basilisk. I say this both from serious background in the math and from a simple follow the money argument - thanks to magical toy money, any break in the relevant (EC) public key algorithms or hashes would unlock unfathomable amounts of money for whoever could do it, or ability to crash economies, so "we're keeping it to read your secrets" would have to be worth more than that for anyone to do it.
Cryptography itself is unbroken and will remain that way. That's why they keep pushing for backdoors, vulnerable client devices, etc.
