fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 03:43:57 JST fu That earlier topic was not voting. That topic was swing state canvassing. So I don't exactly know why you mentioned voting.
If you want to go door-to-door in big cities in hopes that people will show up and vote Democrat, that might make a difference to that goal. I was saying getting people to show up and vote Democrat, however, will not make a difference in American governance.I apologize for making the jump on my own.

fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 01:52:11 JST fu the major parties differ greatly on what I think are the two most crucial issues: environmental protection and wealth disparity.
lol! Again their rhetoric is different but the capitalist tendencies of both are too similar to make a difference.

fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Wednesday, 23-Oct-2024 23:36:55 JST fu @darnell pretty sure we didn't need a new law for that. It's fraud and there are so many statues that already prosecute shit. More politicians just making laws to reflect what the reality already is so they can take credit for it.

fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Wednesday, 23-Oct-2024 23:16:38 JST fu @setsly @justinf if the biggest difference you can make is voting, you live a sad life. If voting actually made a difference it would be illegal by now.
While rhetoric may be different at the policy level there is actually very little difference between the Biden and Trump administrations. ~90% of bills that pass congress have sweeping support from both of the old parties, and the few that don't may often be for show. For example the Biden and Trump backed immigration plans are practically identical but the Republicans want to act like Democrats are trying to "destroy America" or something so they say they vote against it. Somehow the general public thinks Biden is pro freedom and Trump is irrationally protectionist and racist.
If you want to actually make a difference take care of the poor in your town, volunteer at the soup kitchen, help with the Girl Scout troop, raise a big family that is respectful to all and cares to make an even greater positive impact than you ever did. And before you ask, in many parts of the country they are trying to make some of such things illegal.

fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Wednesday, 23-Oct-2024 23:08:34 JST fu @justinf it all depends on what one means by close. I don't believe there is any doubt that Harris will receive the most votes. The question is only how the electoral college will end up. With the increasing size of larger cities, and diminishing rural populations, voters in rural areas have significantly increased say in POTUS elections. Country folks are more likely to have felt wronged by "big government" because it feels like their taxes all go to big projects in the cities (and cities includes suburbs), they are more likely to be gun owners, and they are more likely to be religious. Unfortunately in the U.S. the church has been all but taken over by Republicans, so while Christians worship the prince of peace, they seem to see no qualms voting for war mongers. Since the electoral college vote is based largely on population the states that will make a difference in the result are those in states that contain large rural areas, and still maintain decent sized metro areas; states like Michigan, Ohio & Wisconsin fit that description and voters there will determine the next president. -

fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Wednesday, 23-Oct-2024 22:48:43 JST fu Doesn't it matter where the interest on the payment of those loans go? If a public bank doesn't the interest go to the treasury, versus a private central #bank in which case it goes...somewhere else?
Wouldn't a truly public bank, rather than lending money to the government, forbid lending to the State and instead lend all the money in the country to private sector borrowers and fund the State on the interest there of? In lieu of or in addition to #taxation?
