Here’s some #bikeArt that #BikeTooter folks might like from the Ruth Asawa retrospective at SF MOMA. These are a couple of her prints from the early 1950s. The top one was made from a bike pedal. For you kids, bike pedals used to be just a square tube of rubber around a metal spindle, not the nice platforms we have now.
The other print was made with a potato. I’d say Ruth was pretty good at using things that were at hand. She did a whole series of prints using the laundry stamp that she used when she worked in the laundry at Black Mountain College.
