A 2nd parliamentary vote was set to be held on Tuesday afternoon after Friedrich #Merz, the leader of #Germany’s conservative Christian Democrats, failed to secure enough votes in a first round of voting in the morning.

Jens Spahn, the parliamentary leader for Merz’s Christian Democrats, announced that a second vote would be held at 3:15PM local time (9:15AM ET). “All of Europe & maybe even the whole world is watching this second vote,” he told reporters.
