After i messed with the database last weekend clew has been working a lot better...

I wonder if my theory is correct - once db usage reaches about 50% of total volume it makes the application run wonky.

I moved media uploads and some other files from a 200gb volume to a 400gb volume and everything seemed to smooth out.
