@WeirdWriter@caneandable.social They don't like the indieweb and open web for the same reasons you and or I do.Why do I like the open web?
Because it allows everyone to voice their opinion. Not just people who happen to agree with the current popular narrative. Not just people who happen to agree with my narrative. Everyone. Limiting who and what can be voiced online only serves those who wish to control others. That includes especially people who's opinions are otherwise censored.
While I may not agree with everyone all the time, I strongly believe that without disagreement, we can never expand our minds to viewpoints we never considered. If you wish to remain in your own little bubble and never learn how or why people get to certain ideas, that's your prerogative, albeit very shortsighted in my eyes.
If you never learn how or why people get to opinions you disagree on, you will never understand what the underlying reasons were to reach that opinion, and you will never be able to persuade them to your side. Or perhaps, their reasoning was valid, and you were wrong all along. This could happen, and has happened to me, various times.
I don't actually care much for why people want openness and the ability to share information. I understand that without it, the world will be off worse for everyone. If you don't agree with someone's opinion, that's fine and fair. But if you are against people being able to be open about their opinions, you are, by the literal definition of the word, a fascist.
